*GASP* A post!

Well my internship's computer account has decided to bail on me, so while they file some paperwork and type in some magical codes to validate my existence, I have time to post! It's been so long since the last post that I won't even attempt to cover all the events that have transpired since. Here are some brief highlights:

1. Spring Break in NC was mostly cold rainy but Christina and I made the best of it - we visited "The Lost Colony," the Wright Brother's memorial in Kitty Hawk, an Elizabethan garden (!) and managed to gather some awesome shells on the beach next to the condo. Oh yes, we got hit on by some local fishermen on St. Patrick's Day. Next year is Orlando!
2. I survived my spring semester but the last three weeks were hell on earth.
3. My internship at the Smithsonian is going well and I will be done as of next Wednesday. As soon as the websites are done, I will make sure everyone gets the links.
4. I got to visit the 'burg and view the epidemic of pregnancies that has struck three of my friends there. I seem to have escaped unscathed...
5. Caroline and I take possession of our new apartment in Ballston this Thursday. Hooray for Metro stops within walking distance of where you live!
6. I am heading up to Philly this weekend to visit a friend and meet her hubby for the first time.

Whew! Hope that wasn't too bad.

P.S. I saw "Spring Awakening" at the Kennedy Center and LOVED it! I highly recommend enjoying it's teen-angsty goodness if you get the chance.

Poor Kitty, Happy Heather

Poor kitty doesn't want cat smack!

And now for a real update. So I have an internship for this summer at the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) in their Museum on Main Street program (MoMS). Don't you love acronyms? Basically MoMS sends pre-fabricated exhibits to small towns in rural USA so that people who can't go to big cities to see museums get the opportunity to see a really good, high-quality exhibit. Isn't that lovely and feel-good?

I talked to the director of MoMS today and now I'm even more excited about it than when I first found out I got it. Basically they are sending out a new exhibit called "Journey Stories" this spring and I am going to develop online exhibits to go along with it. What's really cool is they're letting me pick what points related to the exhibit I think people would want to know more about and do research on them. Once I get everything ready I am gonna use a database template to create the online exhibits. I'm so excited because this is a lot like what my ideal job would be so woot for internships!

Also, I am going to the Outer Banks in NC for my Spring Break next week. The weather won't be Florida warm, but the resort is right on the beach so who cares if it's a little cool??? I am happy my fellow Museum Studies lady, Christina, is coming with, but I shall miss my Caroline. Silly thing with her fancy new job keeping her from taking a vacation of awesomeness! I shall try to remember to take photos.

In the beginning...

Due to popular demand (aka Josh) I will actually try to post on my blog. I can't guarantee literary gold, but I hope I will amuse someone at some point.

We had lots of snow and I was pumped to learn that my morning class was cancelled but the cheeriness was dimmed when my afternoon went on as planned. I was seriously hoping to have the day off since I am sick with a cold. My heart goes out to my dear Caroline for living with my sniffling, sneezing, coughing and piles of Kleenex.

I'm afraid I don't have much to say right now. I will post again when I feel more inspired and my brain is not clouded by ickiness.
Hope you enjoy Lolcats and Loldogs cause you're gonna see a lot of them!
